![]() THE HISTORY OF THE CAROLINA BOYS HOME The Carolina Boys Home was founded and developed through the efforts of longtime youth volunteer, Jannie M. Nelson. Jannie began her work with children over 32 years ago as a community youth volunteer in Clarendon County, SC. She helped implement South Carolina's first Head Start Program for preschool children in her community. Her dedication and commitment gave the Head Start children of Clarendon County their first positive beginnings in their education. It was with this dedication, and her experience of helping troubled and often homeless youth, that Jannie saw the need to build the Carolina Boys Home. The Boys Home has been in existence since 1995, and has helped countless boys grow up to be productive young men. Those once thought to be at risk and nearing the end of their respective roads have found new beginnings with the assistance of the staff and the help of the community. |
