PROGRAM SERVICES OFFERED AT THE CBH INCLUDE:

COUNSELING

Individual Counseling - Face-to-face interactions between a child and staff, which addresses issues based on the resident's individual, personal, emotional, and physical needs

Group Counseling - Face-to-face interaction between staff and a group of children. It allows staff to address the needs of several children at the same time. The process provides commonality of client therapy experiences

Family Counseling - Face-to-face interactions between staff and the child's family unit. The intended outcome is to allow residents and their families to work on identified problems together, thus strengthening the family unit for family reunification


Counseling services are provided by a licensed, clinical social worker (LCS) through our program services, and other counseling services are referred to the SC Department of Mental Health

RESTORATIVE INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS: Carolina Boys Home provides services to both individuals and groups to help facilitate youths' transition from therapeutic group home care, into an independent living setting. Life Skills Training will include, but not be limited to:

  • JOB SKILLS

  • PERSONAL GROOMING & HYGIENE

  • TIME MANAGEMENT

  • MONEY MANAGEMENT

  • PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SKILLS

  • COOKING

  • COMPUTER SKILLS

  • ANGER & BEHAVIORAL MANAGEMENT



  • RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: Recreational activites provide therapeutic benefits to our youth by allowing them to relax and enjoy themselves outside of the therapeutic setting. Carolina Boys Home staff are responsible for the coordination of recreational activities, which includes, movies, concerts, amusement parks and other community sponsored events

    EDUCATION: The Carolina Boys Home ensures that each resident attends either public school or continuing education programs that will enhance their abilities to function as a responsible and productive adult

    COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND ACADEMIC TRAINING: Youth placed in the Carolina Boys Home are tutored in basic, Math, English, Reading, and other basic computer skills. The program offers two (2) sessions per week, one hour per session. The program is designed to improve the youth's academic level
